Kabul (EFE).- Estados Unidos anunció que ha comenzado a reducir sus tropas de las 4.500 actuales a 2.500, un proceso que espera completar antes del próximo 15 de enero, al tiempo que afirmó que sus efectivos y los de la OTAN serán capaces de prestar apoyo a las fuerzas afganas.
Washington pactó la retirada de sus tropas con los talibanes el pasado febrero en Doha, en un plazo que finaliza en mayo del año próximo, y ya ha replegado a buena parte de los cerca de 12.000 soldados que llegó a tener en el país.
